My well water is quite a bit harder than yours, however if you get some
crushed coral for you "gravel" and drop the odd limestone rock ( texas
"holey" rock) you will likely see the ph get up to the 8-8.3 range where
mine tends to hang with the same set up. All of my Malawi Cichlids seem to
be thriving, and I can't find enough outlets for the Yellow Labs and
Marmalde's that are being hatched
