I have a had my baby oscar for 2 months. He's getting bigger - about 1
month ago, one of the tank lids broke, so I've been covering up the top
with some cling wrap. Just in the last week I've been hearing Buzz
jumping at the cling wrap, and there are now a few small rough edged
holes in it. Is he bored? I also notice that he has finally started
playing with that christmas bauble I put in there!
Is there something else I can put in there while I'm not at home?
Something he will play with but not use to smash the tank?

Get new glass. Mine is quite big and I wake up to a wet floor sometimes,
you will lose him if you don't get a good cover back on. I'm not sure was
gets him going, but it wakes me up sometimes.

Try a ping pong ball. Light enough for him to knock around the tank
without damaging anything. Or a plastic plant with a weighted base that
he can shove around.
As for why he jumps at the cling wrap - he may see a drop of
condensation and think it is food or he may see a flake or pellet of
food stuck to the wrap and be unable to resist. I agree with Rick - get
a real cover soon. The cling wrap is no match for a determined oscar.
After all, he doesn't know that he really *doesn't* want to explore
outside the tank.

well I've got two christmas baubles in there now - the new one is blue
and shinier. He played with it for about 5 minutes.
As for plants, I have 5 plastic plants and 1 live plant, and he hasn't
started moving them around yet... I'll give him another month before he
starts uprooting things...
I've been meaning to fix the lid, was going to araldite it back
together, just not got around to it yet. Sounds like I had better get
glue-ing!

company. LOL
