Hi,
I like to leave a bit of the lid on my oscars tank open so some bugs
can fall in during the night when the light is on. I also feed him any
bugs that I find around the house.
Are there any particular bugs that might be poisonous to an oscar?

Anything which carries toxins or poisons. Bees, wasps, some spiders etc.
Mine weren't keen on moths, maybe too fuzzy? ;~)

Personally I would not feed anything other than properly prepared foods, you
never know what household bugs contain. If you think of the disgusting
habits prevalent in most of these things, you would not want them added to
your tank let alone actually fed to your fish!

And what do you think Oscars eat in the wild? Sterilized bugs?

you honestly think that pet food makers care what's in fish food?
