I think I hit the 'reply' instead of 'reply to all' button.

It's genetically impossible for the yellow labs to successfully breed with
jack dempseys. Maybe you are observing them displaying (which is a visual
form of aggression).

I think an unchallenged ambitious male combined with multiple females is
the
key in pushing reproduction and is probably the best breeding scenario.

....., but having multiple females in any scenario will also push
reproduction in overcrowded
conditions as well.

What is weird, is the yellow labs are breeding with a Jack dempsey in the
tank....

btw, why didn't you reply to the group??

Your yellow lab colony had just settled in is all
they are very easy to breed
if you keep water quality up
and feed a good diet

This isn't the first round, they've been doing it ever since they hit
the water.... even moreso when the jack dempsey was introduced, which
is why I ask the question...

I know they 'couldn't' even if they 'could' and I wasn't asking if they
'could' just observing that ever since the JD was introduced, I'll have
2 and sometimes 3 mouths full of little eyes staring back... maybe
I'll get some pictures of the tank someday.... I haven't done pictures
in so long, I think I forgot where my camera is...

Then yes it's possible the extra competition is triggering spawning.
It would definitely strengthen ties within the yellow colony
They may also be getting more food or water changes as well?
