Ooh - pretty! That looks like a "sunshine peacock", Aulonocara baenschi.

Thank you Elaine for this ID. I have two others that I surmise to also be A.
Baenschi. Since they all look different I didn't recognize that they were so
closely related, but now I find A. Baenschi pictures online that match them all.

I inherited these fish with a tank that I bought second-hand, but didn't do a
good
enough job recording what's what. They have turned out to be a really good
community of healthy and interesting fish that seem to not need much but the
regular water change to keep nitrates in check. And friendly too.

You're welcome. He's a dead-on match for the "sample" fish we kept in a
community of Malawi peacocks where I worked ages ago. It's interesting
how many regional color morphs there are of all the rift lake cichlid
species. They remind me of killifish in that regard.
