Is there any type of food to get for cichlids for us going on a three day
vacation? Thanks...

If fairly well grown and healthy, they can starve for a week with little
or no bad effects.

The meat eaters should be starved for a couple of days every month to
clean them out.

Indeed. We have teenage kids that are supposed to feed the fish while
we're out of town, but at best they'll do one massive over-feeding a
week or so unless nagged constantly.

Having done several 1-2 week trips, we've only lost one fish and he had
a tumour growing, so I wouldn't qualify him as healthy to begin with, my
bet is that the other fish would have killed him food or not.
