My huge old green Severum now has one huge pop eye. What's the chances
for full recovery & time frame? I did a major water change, and was looking
for some advice on a treatment method that doesn't involve major filter
media change as well? I'm an old school guy that liked to use salt with my
livebearers, but not sure if this is advisable for Severums? Thanks!

Years ago I had a pair of very rare wild Haplochromis. The male
developed pop-eye. After treating it with various "cures" I took it to
the vets. He stuck a tiny hypodermic needle into the side of the
swollen eye to relieve the pressure. The swelling had gone down by the
time I got the fish back home and in a few days the eye looked
perfect.

eeeek. the poor fish! I'm glad it worked, but it sounds ghastly.

I just tried it with a hypo. The fish didn't even flinch. I'll let you
know how it worked out.
