I replied to your other thread. Do you want this mix of fish? I'd do...

3 zebras
1 male platy (you don't want them breeding in only 10 gallons)
4 neons
2 panda corys
no tiger barbs. Pesky, nippy little fish, those.

Total: 10 small fish. Reasonably close to 1" per gallon.

(Elaine, I love your fish suggestions. If I ever do get another tank going,
I'll be Googling your posts for sure.)

In a 10g tank that densely populated, wouldn't the odds of any fry surviving
be minimal?

A

Thanks, A. :-) Livebearer fry never cease to amaze me with their
resourcefulness. I always heavily plant my community tanks, and I've
had baby guppies and platies make it in large tanks with adult
angelfish, big clown loaches, altispinosas, kribensis, and heaven only
knows what other hungry fish. The survivors find fine leaved plants or
frogbit roots at the surface and apparantly hang out eating algae and
microorganism living on the plants until they're big enough to compete
for fish food.

The stocking level I suggested for these 10 gallon community tanks is
dense but should be quite manageable. It's dense because I don't like
keeping shoaling fish alone. However, a couple more platies could
overstock the tank.
