Please log in for more thread options While at a local Petsmart buying some gravel (I'm switching the tanks
that had a dark blue...sounds nasty, but actually looked nice with the
greens of the plants, and browns from driftwood, etc.) when I started
looking at their female Bettas. I generally don't buy fish from this
particular Petsmart. They don't care for them properly and most of the
employees don't have a clue. Their Bettas *usually* either already
have bacterial infection due from dirty water conditions, or well on
their way to it.
As usual, the cups were so filthy and most fish were sick.
Right above the dark-natural gravel I thought I saw the spikes of a
crown tail, and I did.
She's in quarantine right now and looking much better.
The water from her cup smelled like a sewer. I even gagged, that's how
nasty it was.
She's a cambodian - pastel (multi-colored), double-ray, crown tail.
She's my favorite type of CT as well...the spikes are shorter, and all
exactly the same. Not like some which have long - spindly, or jagged
spikes.
It's too bad you can't post pics on this group like you can over at
The freshwater Aquarium....
).
I've posted pics of both my black Crowntail and Rountail males.
When I get some nice shots of all the new recent female that were
bought in the last couple weeks, I'll post them up over there as well.
I think there's 9-10 new females. All of them from Petsmart too (which
is crazy).
They've had some nice looking females the past couple weeks, and the
female I just got was probably the last good one around here.
The other local Petsmarts didn't get any more nice ones last week (or
this week).
On a sad note......
I lost one of the male Bettas that I adored. He was a lovely CT that
had so many ray splits to his tail that it was impossible to get an
exact count. He had been a quadrupal ray CT until he decided one day
that his tail looked a little too tastey, and chewed it off.
If he could reach it, it was gone.
There were shreds of his tail on the bottom of the tank by morning,
and he looked like a little kid that was "playing" with the scissors.
He was brand new back ( fall of 2002) then and since some will shredd
themselves from being bored I got him some Neons for tank mates. He
never chewed his tail again, and liked having something to do in his
tank.
When his tail grew back in,(most of the CT's don't grow back as pretty
as they were and some may even lose their spikes completely), his tail
grew spikes that split and split and split and kept on going.
Not like human hair split ends, not at all. These were fin rays that
branched out, then split and branched out again and again.
It was also one of the hardest fish to photograph. Many of you out
there have had a Betta, or other fish that constantly looked directly
at you, so all you see is it's face. lol
That was him! I tried for years to get a good shot of him, but his
tail never came out good enough for somebody who hasn't seen him in
person to really know what you're looking at.
His coloring hampered that as well. He was so pretty. A royal blue
with a pearly white and whine-red wash here and there. In places his
blue had this pearly white over it...but still was very blue, and
looked sparkly. His pectral fins were the same sparkly royal blue. He
was colorful from his mouth to the tips of his tail. Most pectral fins
are clear or may have a dash of color.
He was pretty special to me.
About a couple of weeks ago he started to fade his beautiful colors.
The last week he started to lose some of his spikes in his tail, and
really slowed down.
I knew it wouldn't be long then.
He died yesterday. = (

Your a dumbass TYNK, killing those bettas by keeping them in such
trashy cesspool conditions that mimick thwe insides of yur lower
bowel.........You do not deserver to keep fish. One good thing though
is that new dick of yours you received in SRS is not capable of
reproducing so no new little TYNK bastards running around.

Ah, and there's my puppet, right on schedule.
You've used this *reef1...@yahoo.com* before.
Stop trying to hide behind new screen names Roy, and grow a pair
already.
Go bother somebody who might give a damn about you.
Oh, and why the cross posting of your lame reply?
Still "fishing" for targets I see.
(I removed them)

Once again, our monkey boy Roy has changed his screen name and used an
old email address that he hasn't used since Feb. of 07.
If the idiot bother you with his lame posts, then simply report him or
block him (yet again).
His last screen names were Tristan and before that A.Paul.Ing, and
before that PondMeister, etc., etc.
I have left the cross posts in that Roy has provided, but removed his
nonsense.
