Please log in for more thread options Can anyone identify the long slender fish in the lower right-hand corner of
this pic? Those I have have tiny little mouths and look almost exactly like
this fish.

The lady at the LFS got them in with a shipment of ghost shrimp and gave
them to me. They're in the 5g tank my betta was in but I had to remove him
as they attacked him constantly.
Thanks

Looks like a Denison Barb without coloration, perhaps a variety of that.

Thanks. The fish she gave me look a lot like this but have tiny little
mouths, not like a SAE's mouth or a sucking or rasping mouth. The stripe
doesn't continue trough the tail and two have a reddish area where the
stripe ends (males?). They're not active and stay near the bottom all the
time. They're smaller than SAEs. She said they occasionally come in with
the ghost shrimp and tiny sunfish.

Please log in for more thread options Kinda depends on the origin. It could be a member of the fox fish family or
if it's coming in with domestic sunfish and ghost shrimps, it could also be
something native that i'm not familiar with. Fox fish are often
mis-identified as true SAE's but they're actually separate species. If that
was a true SAE, it's a great fish, because they eat all types of problematic
algaes, even the dreaded black beard algae.
