Angelfish eggs are a light amber color at first. If they go opaque
they are unfertilized.
If the parents are not taking care of the eggs these need to be
removed by the keeper.
I've not had cory spawn, or if I have in the tank I just never saw
them due to a variety of fish.
Neons...I've not spawned so I can't really tell you much.
You mentioned Neons being a hassle to keep alive. Mine actually thrive
in my hard water. Isn't that crazy! They quickly grow to maxium size.
I've seen spawning behavior many times and if they did spawn, any eggs
were quickly devoured.
I currently just had another pair of Angels spawn. This time around it
was the same female with a different male. Boy the previous male was
NOT happy about their pairing off. His behavior was obviously
aggressive towards the other male being with *his* woman.
At first the pair worked well at keeping every fish at bay. All the
other angels stayed clear except for her previous mate. (there are 3
males in there and he was the only one messing with the boundaries).
He would stay right on the edge and then would come in for a swipe at
the eggs. Finally he said that's it...these eggs are not staying. He
started gobbling them down and I quickly noticed him.
I tried saving as many eggs as I could. I got about 75, but was down
to 60 soon (unfertilized). This morning I removed more opaque eggs.
At about 10:30 this morning I had a few tails wriggling out of the egg
shells, so we'll see if any survive.
I can quickly decapsulate some brine shrimp eggs if need be. I do have
other fry food and can also buy frozen Baby Brine at the store.
The trick to getting them to eat it is to swoosh it around gently so
that it looks like it's living food.
I would think with smaller fish like Neons they would need microworms,
etc...but I'm guessing there.
