I hve had about 5 different oscars in my tank. Initially there were 3
oscars and 3 jack dempseys and 1 pleco. All of the oscars have died,
incuding the replacement 2 I bought to equal 5. I pleco has died but I
replaced it. The dempseys have lived. Do you think that the dempseys
are killing the other fish?

Be nice to know a lot more info on the setup......size, water
parameters, filteraton, were all fish placed in the tank at same
time, etc etc etc....thats a pretty agressive type tank.

Initially, it was a 10 gallon tank with 1 oscar and 1 jack Dempsey and
a Pleco. Then I added 2 more Jack Dempseys.
Then I added 2 more oscars. The pleco died. I bought a new pleco. Then
I bought a 20 gallon tank. Two oscars died. I added a tinfoil barb. I
added a electric blue cichlid. I added a irredsecent shark. The shark
died 1st night, Then Oscar was doing well for about a month. No
deaths. then he died and I bought another oscar. It just died a week
later. Dempseys good. Pleco good. and tinfoil barb good. blue cichlid
good. Then I added a yellow african cichlid and that is were we stand.
I have a 20 gallon and a 10 gallon filtration device (Whisperors) and
a heater. I do water changes 1 a week.

I really htink you need to set down and access what yu intend to keep
and then research the requirements and tank sizes. I do belive you
went about it to quick to many and your fltration system is minimal to
say the least. You did not gve the system any time to build up, and
basically overloaded it. All those fish get big fast and all are messy
eaters and need much more room than what you state and in less
numbers. Impatients is perhaps the worst killer of fish than anything
else, as wel as over populating or not wainting for a tank to be fully
cycled to take the bio load. You still need to do water tests to know
what your dealing with......for a while anyhow especially with a new
tank setup as such.
