I added a pleco to my tank a couple of weeks ago. I have noticed that
every now and then it will bolt for the surface and take a gulp of
air--at least this is what it looks like. It doesn't happen often, and
the other fish seem to be fine. I have heard that coreys will do this,
but I didn't know about plecos. Is this normal behavior, or is it
indicative of some sort of stress?

I used to have a big one that did that every evening when he exited his cave
and before he started to vac the whole tank. He used to bounce off the
glass top half the time and splash water all over in the process. Once
spent around 4 hours on the floor with no long term ill effects.
