Yes, I have heard this from a friend near Tampa. He can't afford to buy
even a small house there in any section around the city. He now regrets
not buying a home when he first move there 25 years ago. Sometimes
Mobile Homes can be found in excellent condition and for a fraction of
what a house costs. I would rather live in a MH than rent an apartment
as rent is GONE and you have nothing - but the MH can always be sold.
You also have a lot more room and can do as you please with it, inside
and out. You can stay in a trailer-court (not all are dumps full of
trashy people) or put it on a piece of land which will grow in value as
time passes. That's what my old friend is looking into now.

We (husband, me and the boys, mom & step-dad, if we can get them to
come) will be moving back down in a few years, we thought about the
double wide MH but we lived through a few big hurricanes (Andrew being
one) so my husband said no way, however Naples don't get hit quite as
often for some reason, my husband grew up in Iowa/Colorado but moved
toFl, Keys young so he had his share of them. My gram lives about 5 min
from the beach in Naples and has only got hit four (big) times in the
last 10-15 years. Me i like NC we go there often

If I had a choice, I'd move to the center of the state, away from the
ocean and any large bodies of water, flood plains, et cetera, because
with the Earth warming up, bringing about the change in the North
Atlantic currents, due to the melting permafrost, icefloes, icebergs, et
cetera, with the frigid freshwater coming in conflict with and slowing
the flow of the warmer waters of the Gulfstream, thus altering the
normal weather patterns all around the world, resulting in more freak
weather, and more powerful cyclones, hurricanes, tornadoes, et cetera.
So living along the coast, in my case, just blocks from the Atlantic
Ocean, would have a much higher degree of probability of severe damage
to my home and my person. Anyone thinking of moving here, or anywhere
near the coast should keep all of that in mind.~Dean.

This is really scary as I live on the eastern edge of Tornado-Alley. I
don't suppose the powers that be are doing anything about all that carbon
dioxide or whatever is causing all this craziness.........

With the hurricanes and high cost of living in a decent area there, people
may be better off staying where they are.
