If you are not certain of what your plants need, and you are concerned
that they may fall apart so much as to clog your filter, and they only
cost a few dollars, I think you should remove them completely. This
will take at least one worry off your mind, and it sounds like you
will have much more important things on your mind in the next few
days. Take care of your family and my God/dess be with you.

I guess I could just put fake plants in for the next few days I have some
laying around, I just did not want to end up with a tank full of dead fish,
either from the filter being clogged, or because I took their hiding places.
Just to much work at the moment
I'm trying to take a mental brake right now, been up all night and kind of
need to be distracted for a little while, other wise it just gets to be to
much to handle.

Yes, please try to relax and take care of your family.
The fake plants you already have sound like a good solution to keep your
fish feeling comfortable, if you remove the "poorly" live plants. Also,
the aquarium would probably be fine for some days or a week if left as
it is.
For future reference, plants have some basic requirements such as enough
light and nutrients. Planted aquariums are a fascinating branch of the
hobby. There's a rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants group, information on web
sites like the Krib, and good books.

Whenever I've put stiff plastic plants in with bettas, they've damaged
their fins on them. The ones with silk leaves work better. Since
you've got so much going on, just remove the dying plants and leave
things alone. Your bettas will be fine - lack of hiding places does not
kill solo fish. FWIW, I grow java fern and anubias in my unlit betta tanks.
I'm very sorry to hear about your brother. That must be hard.
