Please log in for more thread options Hey fishy folks.
Those of you who are lucky enough to be near a "chosen" PetCo, now
have the better fin varieties of Bettas.
Halfmoon - tail fin spread of 180*. Really nice looking fish, and they
do have colors not often seen in shops to boot. Of course there's a
higher price to be paid though, but nothing like what they cost online
after you add on shipping charges. = /
Delta - These are technically anything wider than a veil, but not a
full180* tail spread.
Most of the Deltas I've seen in PetCo were gorgeous, and just shy of
being halfmoons. These cost a little less than the halfmoons, but a
few bucks more than a Crowntail.
They are also carrying Crowntail females, which they did anyway now
and then, but now are charging a little more for those females.
I say "chosen" because only certain stores have them.
I emailed the company about why they don't have them at all the
stores?
Basically, the guy didn't really know or have any type of answer.
I said, well why not send a few of each type to all the stores, and
see how they do. That way ALL your customers will be introduced to the
newer fin varieties, and then that way everyone wins.
The customers with better Bettas, and because they cost more, you guys
make more money.
It's a win win.
He said "Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I'll bring it up in the
next meeting."
I hope he really does and it wasn't a generic answer.
Anyway, check out your local PetCo's and see if they're carrying these
new fin varieties.
I'm still waiting for the halfmoon that jumps at me. So far they've
had a lot of coppers and red cambodian mixes, and yellows. Those are
the only color choices they've had for the past 2 months.

Fortunately the store not to far from me carries them and the selection is
excellent. :-)

Geeze, I hope they do that! I'm waiting for the new PetsMart to open closer
to me in the new Mall. They also occasionally have the fancier finned
Bettas.

They had the blue, blue-greens and reds here.

I'm always looking for the extended reds (of any fin type except veil
or super delta..the extra long types), butterfly pattern, black, black
with vibrant red tips, marbles (marbles are so fun, like little color
surprises in each fish), white opaques, opaque crosses, cambodian
crosses, multicolored, and of course the elusive emerald green (would
drool over any fin type of this rare little gem).
For those that don't know, the emerald green are true greens, and not
the teal or aqua-greens commonly found.
Also, an "extended red" is solid, vibrant red from the mouth to the
ends of it's fins, and everything in between.
Not like the normal reds.

==================================
You just got to keep trawling the pet shops. Sometimes they get in really
special bettas and sometimes it's the same basic colors and finnage. I
haven't seen a true green in ages. The new boy is a blue-green, very pretty.
I'm hoping to find another pure white betta like Snowflake. He was so
beautiful. Not a mismark or off color scale on him. And my pale yellow - I
haven't seen any that color again either. The yellows and whites all have
"smudges" on them that ruins their looks.
