I am glad you have had good luck here. I have just had two emails in
the last three weeks from persons complaining about impeller and back
pressure problems.
I have literally used 100s of Fluval from when they first came out in
my aquarium maintenance business (most in the later years purchased by
the customer from someone else. Melting of the thin wall in the
impeller chamber is/was a common problem; however the problem that is
100% is the lack of back pressure which may not be a problem if one
has little need for back pressure. This will be a problem if you have
a tall tank, or connect a fluidized filter or UV Sterilizer.
One other problem is their proprietary accordion style tubing, this is
very difficult to use for many and is a major problem in custom
installations
I personally stopped selling Fluval several years ago and would NEVER
recommend this filter.
