You can do that but start adding small amounts of water every 10 minutes or
so until the water in the bag is mostly tank water. You may have to spill
some off before starting to add your water.

That's how I do it. Then when the water in the container is mostly my tank
water I gently remove the fish from the container and put them in the tank.
