Any advice on the best way to clean airstones? We live in an area with very
hard water and airstones get blocked relatively quickly with limescale.

Is it OK to use vinegar - perhaps soak them in it overnight? Most of the
household chemicals for limescale removal are very strong and therefore seem
a very bad idea.

Cheers, Alice.

I'd use vinegar, then boil the airstone afterwards.

I have use one of those steam cleaners to clean airstones and defusers.
They blast the gunk right out of the pores.

And they are great for tank hoods and removing algae from rocks.

Attach the airstone to a car foot pump (manual) and blast the shit out.
Works a few times before the stone will need replacing.
