Hey,
Just recently picked up a few goldfish for my daughter. The water was
as clear as a bell last night, cloudy this morning. I kept fish about 20
years ago. I have 2 two inch fish in a 5 gallon tank. Charcoal filter on
the back. Any suggestions?

Yep, I have a few suggestions. Get a larger tank, and I mean a much
larger tank and a decent power filter for those goldies. OR, return
goldies and buy a fish (s) that are suitable for such a small
container (clouds, guppy etc etc) 5 gal is much to small for a goldie
and a mediocre filter is justa s bad. Goldies make a mess and require
much more filtration than the typical tropical type fish, and they
grow fast and 5 gal tank is just too small for 2 fish of 2" in lengh.

Cloudy water is usually a sign of a bacterial bloom at the start of a tank
cycling. To repeat what was said in the previous reply, a 5G tank is nowhere
near big enough for 2 goldfish. they require at least 10 gallons each and
excellent filtration. I assume the tank you have put them in isn't cycled?
If so you need to keep a very careful eye on your water parameters for the
next 8 weeks or so or you will end up losing them when the ammonia/nitrite
builds up.
Mel.
