Proper food and proper water parameters all mean healthy unconstipated
fish. I luck out withthe bulk foods I get for my outside fish in that
a mill is 2 miles down the road and they sell top quality food, which
the local zoo buys as well as various other so called theme parks here
to feed their fish. I also buy top quality foods made by Hikari and a
few others that is rated as top quality foods. I do not shop price,
but shop by label and contents in the container. I will not feed most
tetra or any wardly products, or any house brand foods like Top
fin..........although Top Fin cichlid foods abnd algae wafers have
done good for me when used previously. About the only Tetra brand food
I feed is Crisps......I feed lots of live as well as frozen foods. Not
really that keen on freeze dried foods though.......I do but frozen
blocks of krill and also brine shrimp and most all fish FW and SW eat
krill and brine......I go fishing on the gulf a lot and we cxatch what
we call pin fish which are all choped up or gorup up and eventually
fed to the koi as are the numerous bream and shad I catch with a cast
net in the one other pond we have......but for the most part the
outside fish do pretty well on their own without any additonal food.
We do however feed foods to em all especially the tropicals we keep in
preforms outside. IMNSHO getting fed what amounts to be a laxative
certainly is not viewed by me as a treat. Don't believe me its a
treat, go take some ospho soda or exlax and see if you enjoy
it.........I doubt it!
