Is there a recommended type of algae eater that is okay to mix with fancy
goldfish? I have two red-cap orandas and three lionheads. After only a
couple of days, I have a lot of algae on the glass (direct sunlight).
FYI: I cannot move the tank, and the chemical balance is excellent.
Thanks for any advice -

Well, avoid Siamese algae eaters. I've heard they get aggressive. I
personally had a "tribe" of otocinclus, until my GF got bigger and ate them.
:)
I hear your pain - I have the same problem. I'm trying some Seachem Excel
Flourish. It's actually a plant food, but the people in
rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants claim that it is very effective as an
algaecide, and safe for my snail, which most algaecides aren't.

I would not put any other type of fish in the tank. Water changes and
lots of elbow grease to keep things clean!

Those plastic credit cards I get in the mail weekly make great algae
scrapers.
