Go to the pet shop and ask them for a text kit for PH, ammonia and nitrites.
The kits run about $7 each or buy the test strips. Also, Google
aquarium+care or something similar. You can also check this out: Aquarium

ok i thought about it. I'm going to return the
plecostymous.

Clean the aquarium let it sit for awhile. May get
a betta.
