Please log in for more thread options I've been looking at the LFS and online and it seems that these smaller
all inclusive systems are selling like hotcakes. I noted the Aquapod 24
gallon setup, you can get it with PC lights for $200 or Metal Halide for
$350. It has an interesting filter system that's built in, basically
water flows into back section of tank over bio-media and such then is
pumped back with a powerhead. Add a small skimmer(maybe?) and a heater
some substrate and rock and it seems to me that it would be less
expensive and more purely designed for what I want.
I know that small tanks are allegedly tougher to maintain etc...but I'm
okay with that.
Question is are these things just crap? Waiting to break? It's really
what I'm looking for in my next adventure(it seems) in Marine Aquaria.
Opinions?
TIA,
Pat

The problem is that people want the cheapest price, so
manufactures cut corners to produce the cheapest price,
but then later things start breaking.
If memory serves me right, that brand has had it's problems.

Please log in for more thread options JBJ NANO cubes have been bad at up and cracking one week or 6 months
later down the road, just setting there. Of ocurse the reason they
crack and bust is from minute manufacturing scratches etc in the glass
that just takes a bit longer to propagate to the poiint it breaks.
They also have crappy ballasts, and pumps on the JBJ Nano cubes.....
The Current USA Aqua pods came out as an alternative to the crappy JBJ
Nano's.....They initially had problems which are now supposedly ironed
out. The problems they had were mainly ill fitting hoods, and lights
that were improperly wired. A few even had problems with the back
inner bulkhead wall cracking.....but as of late it seems they have
gotten their problems under control, but you stil hear about JBJ Nano
cubes most every day with problems............
Current USA does make a skimmer for use n these Aqua Pods. Some folks
swear at them others swear by them. I have no problem with the two
Fission Skimmers I have in use. They are rather particular in water
levels, or they do not work right, but they do work if properly setup.
Issues on both are unusually noisy fans, which are cheap enough to
change out, but still something you should not have to fool with when
new.
I'll still prefer a good 20 or 30 gal cube or reg tank and fit my opwn
systems to it, so I am not tied down to one particular brand or
company and all the problems that accommpany it.
