I have a very loud and extremely bothersome hanging filter on the back
of my 110 gal reef tank.

It's the kind of filter with two PVC pipes that stick up and each has
a "sponge" filter over it.

Any tips to keep it quiet?

Good question.

First suggestion I have is to get rid of the sponge filters of the
pipes, and then replace them with either a Durso or Stockman standpipe.

A Durso standpipe is the best way, but if you want a quick
fix, just stick some airline tubing down in it.
