Do you hear snapping noises?

Try checking with a small flash light at night.

I kept 2 Stomotopods and if you found your Gamma then it wansnt a
Mantis Shrimp. They devour everything.

When they poke around to look for food or a new home you will only see
their eyes which look like two kelidescopes looking in different
directions. Typically they will be on the move when fedding time comes.
Look for burrows at the base of the rock and any spots in the rock that
have a cave like features. These animals like enclosed secure places
and will even encapsulate themselves after a good feeding in a den by
moving small rocks, sand, and snail shells to the front of the entrance
to make themselves feel safe.

I cought one in my big tank by putting a rock at the top of the reef
wall with a custom cave that I could look into from the side and top of
the water. I kept placing a small amount of brine shrimp, with a tube
and a syringe in the hole at feeding time(dont stick your fingers in
there!!), which the crabs would eat eventually. One time time I went
to do it and there he was. I had a small bucket standing by and pulled
the whole rock a put him in a containment tank. They are smart, fast,
and habitual creatures. I may take some time a patience to catch it.

If you havent heard clicking you could still have a pincer shrimp but
the club shrimp are more common. Also look for snail shells that look
like the have been in a 80mhp car crash, because when they smack snail
shells they explode! Small crabs are their favorite but they will each
just about anything.
