Which hermit crabs are more likely to be good cleaners and not
as likely to eat stuff you don't want them to eat, like snails
and LR/LS denizens?
Red or blue?

Thanks,
Mark

Both kinds will eat whatever they can: worms, miniature snails etc.
They will not harm larger smails you buy in LFS, like astrea,
until the snails will die on their own...
They are great hair algae fighters, so you need to keep
the balance between keeping some of them and too many of them.

Them there little hermit guys (or gals) are good at what they do BUT...
from what I've seen, Dwarf Blue, Red, Zebra whatever, they seem to all be
the same.
Fact is they clean tanks up great... algae, dead fish. food...side effects
can be snail loss
and sometimes they like to sit on top of your leather coral and piss them
off.
So I guess that makes them Peaceful : )

I don't see much of a difference.

The only difference I've seen is when they get bigger
they get a bit more aggressive in there search for food.

Mark,

This is a very easy question to answer. None of them. Hermit crabs are
opertunistic scavengers and will eat what ever they find that they can
shove into there mouths. So LR/LS critters are valid food for all of them.

With that said most people that I talk to say that the scarlet hermits
are the safest, but they are also pretty expensive. I would suggest
myself skipping the hermits and adding some nassairus snails instead.

The blue are safer than the red.
