There are a few mods you can do that make them decent, but I wouldn't
try one on a reef tank. FO or FOWLR that size, sure. I thought I had
mine working pretty well, until I bought a good one. It pulled easily
5 times as much krap out of the water.

What would you consider a good one for a reef tank? the one I am using seems
to work fine, but its an elcheapo model and I don't have enough experience
to compare it to anything else. The guy at my LFS said to use a seaclone. I
think he was just trying to sell me old stock after reading all the bad
reviews about it here

For some reason, most LFS's I've been in seem to love selling Prizms
and Seaclones. I don't know why. There are MANY better skimmers
readily available. I've owned both of those, and will NEVER buy
another.

I'd recommend CPR, AquaC, or Euroreef.

Euroreef is what I run, and I love the suckers.

I can tell you why the like to sell them. First they are available from
most aquarium supply wholesalers, So they don't have to find a special
supplier for them. Also they are cheap, more people are willing to
spend 80 on one of those skimmers than 120 to 200 on a good skimmer.
