I just recently added several stalks of xenia to my 150 gallon reef
tank. In just a week I noticed that it has already grown quite a bit,
and spread to an adjacent rock at the bottom of the tank. I have read
that it can grow to nuisance proportions.

Would others with xenia experience recommend getting rid of it now
before I can no longer control it, or is it managable in a tank with
many many other coral cohabitants.

A lot of people grow it to share with others; use it as a
nutrient-export; or take it in a few stalks at a time to the LFS for
store credit.

If you put it up high in your tank, it usually has nowhere else to go
and can be contained.

You could try surrounding it with mushrooms. That worked out well for
me in my 29g.
