Yellow water?!?!?!? Tre' Landrum 03-30-2005

I help with a friends tank. Recently I went there and the water was yellow.
He said it had been that way since I did a partial water change a month ago
or so. I looked at some water I had mixed up at the same time (about a month
ago). When I mixed it up last month it looked fine. Now I have already
dumped the rest of the salt and done a small water change. I plan on doing a
series of small water changes. Here is my questions: 1) do I need to do a
larger water change (like 50+%) The fish seem to be fine. 2) what in the
world happened to my salt?!?! It was instant ocean, and only a few months
old. It had never been opened.
I don't think it really affected the fish that bad, but it sure looked bad.
Thanks for any help with this mystery.

But what the heck is it? The water sitting in a bucket with nothing organic
