Hi all
I am downsizing.

Im looking for ideas. i have a space thats 24"wide(MAX) by 20"deep(MAX)

since im downsizing from a 60gal i have alot of big rock. i would like to
accomodate a fwe of these along with the smaller stuff, so i need a high
tank.16" height (Minimum)

this puts me right near a 25gal or 30 gal.

I was told about a 30gal bow front that is about 16w by 20d by about 18"
tall or something of the sort, and it comes with filtration and a power
compact and lid for 219$ at LFS. would this be a good buy? Consider i am
exchanging live rock to cover half, or most of the price. If purchased
anywhere else i would have to foot the entire bill. THis still leaves me
high and dry as far as a protien skimmer..... until the paychecks come
flowing around here which could take months.

any advice would be appreciated.

You could go with a 60 gallon hex.

I don't know. I've always liked the *idea* of a hex tank, but I have yet
to see one that looks worth a darned. To me it just screams to be a
center piece in a room - something that you can walk all around and
admire. But then you get one side all mucked up with cables and hoses,
the stand is never large enough for a sump and all the other equipment
you need for a good reef tank.

Hey, if anyone has photos of a good hex installation can you send them
my way (or better yet, provide links)? I'd love to do one (or more) of
these in my home as centerpieces seperating the living and dining rooms
(something you can walk through, rather than around) but could use some
inspiration and ideas.

Thanks,

mark h

You do not have to have cables - you can have tall hex tank
creating a column in the room from the floor to the ceiling.
Plumbing can be done from the drilled bottom and the lights,
vents, or power for powerheads can be supplied from the ceiling.

I'm not a big fan of hex tanks either, but you have really
limited yourself in the length of the tank.
