Hello, I'm trying to find a reference or the name of a common way of
setting up crushed coral substrate. The name Joebert or Joeber rings a
bell but I'm not getting very far with search engines.

Basically, a flow-through shelf is placed in the bottom of the tank so
that the crushed coral does not sit directly on the bottom; substrate
starts about 1.5" up sitting on top of PVC/eggcrate and vinyl screen
shelf. The next 2" up are crushed coral with another layer of vinyl
screen on top. Then finally another 2" of crushed coral to top it off.

Lower level provided area for anerobic bacteria and upper screen/level
was aerobic bacteria zone. Once established, system maintained itself
w/o water changes. Anyone know the name or have references to this
type of setp? Thanks in advance for any information!

Bill
