Hi, can someone please tell me weather this is normal for a female angel
fish?
I have had the fish for nearly two years and after the first year or so she
started to stop eating every few months for about a month at a time. She
will eat blood worm while she is doing it, but she will not eat flake or any
other foods that I give her. then she starts to eat normally again.
Does that sound normal for angel fish?
cheers

Is she regularly spawning with the same male or have you changed partners?
Some females like the same male. Or, is she alone in community tank? perhaps
a bit more information will help, as most angels are hungry all the time,
especially females who spawn every week, but at same time they do prefer
bloodworm, finding it irrestible. I know my male didn't eat much for 2 weeks
when they first started spawning in 65g and eggs were eaten by tankmates. As
soon as they had their own tank, spawning every 8 days now, his appetite
returned. Mary

I'd say that she spawns every couple of months, there seems to be quite a
large number off eggs when she does. she last spawned about two weeks ago.
that was the first time she has spawned with a male in the tank with her and
they both guarded them for several days, I wasn't present when they hatched.
before that they other fish would eat them after the lights went out.
I thought that it might be due to overfeeding, but she has been getting the
right amount of food. When she is not eating she still behaves normally and
does not hide away or seem any different than normal, but she does often try
to eat food at feeding time, but will not take it into her mouth. I have
read that angels can overfeed, does that sound like the sort of thing that
happens when they do?
thanks

So how is the Angelfish doing? If this was an established pattern
(mini-fasts) I would not be overly worried about it. Most of what they
eat is excess anyways, so eating less produces less waste.

She is still not eating flake food. I was feeding her a couple of moths each
night, which she seems to like to eat, but she stopped eating them four or
five days ago. I'm getting some blood worm soon so I'll try to get her to
eat some of that.
