Please log in for more thread options Some of you might remember me from a couple of weeks back when I managed to
screw my new BiOrb's water up. Well, all's well now and after 2 days of 0
nitrites I went and got my second lot of three Cardinal tetras today. I
didn't realise how much my original three had grown until the new ones were
in the tank. They're about 3 times the size of the new ones in height and
width.
The larger of the originals has been bullying the other two originals for a
few days with one hiding behind the heater and another behind some of the
plants. They all swim together at times. It seems like he forgets to bully
sometimes, when somebody's doing anything near the tank or when they're
eating.
When the new ones went in, all the original ones went and had a look and
were all very nice for an hour or so until the big one started to get all
territorial again. Now I've got a small school of 4 at the back of the tank,
one behind the heater and the big one prowling the front of the tank again.
The little ones are teasing him, as he chases one off left of tank, one of
the others swims in from the right and vice versa. Quite funny to watch but
he's gonna go mental chasing them.
The behaviour seems to have started after I cut back their food some more on
advice of LFS and I'm wondering if this might have something to do with it?
Have I cut them back too far? I don't think so. Also, how can I "educate" my
big cardinal to behave him/herself? Or am I worrying over nothing? Any fish
psycologists in the group?
