Hi,

Some of my fish have been flashing of late, some of these fish are platies,
and to start with it was just them doing it, which I read Platties flashing
is normal, if no salt is present in the water.
BUT I have seen my Julii Corydora flashing as well.

My Readings:

Last Week:
---------------
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20-40
---------------
This week:
---------------
Ammonia: 0.25
Nitrite: 0.25
Nitrate: 5 - 10
---------------

So as you can see, Nitrates have dropped a lot, and Ammonia and Nitrite have
risen slighty.

I have added some AmQuel+ Plus, to help lower the levels. I recently changed
the tank to a planted tanks, and all my fish loved it, except my bulldog
pleco, who sadly passed away a few days ago, for some unknown reason.

I have not added an new fish to the tank, so I can't understand why they are
flashing, there is no sign of flukes, or other entities in the gills or
skin.
Since I have planted to tank, I have taken out the air stone, but I still
have a spray bar in the tank, so the water gets oxygenated via that.
I can see one dead spot in the tank which is the front left hand corner, as
that were the mulum collects, and I have a patch of brown algea, I don't
have any else where, excpet a slight covering of some sort f algea on the
glass, but this just brushes off.
To fix the dead spot problem I am going to add a small filter to the back of
the tank, at the opposite end of the fluval 2+ (with spray bar) so the water
is moving better and the detris is directed to the filter 'better', as there
is little water movement that is apparent.

I have been doing 25% water changes every week to every 2 weeks. I don't
want to lose any more fish, as no body does, can anyone think of what my
problem could be?
Could it be the slight change in chemistry?

I thought everything would be great now I found a home for my abusive
kribenis, but alass yet another stumbling block, but hey we live and learn.

Hope someone can help.
