Having owned a couple of Clown Loaches for three years, I've really got to
know some weird tendencies. They really are clowns in every sense of the
word! However, I'm a little concerned that they all wanted to jump to
freedom due to a little bit of negligence/beginners luck.

In the past I've asked about the greying, learnt about the spikes in the
"cheeks" (never seen them though) and odd "play dead" tendencies ....

Anyway, I tried to record the behaviour today, but failed as soon as I
walked to the tank ... it scarpered into hiding and didn't really want to
re-enact the behavior in the minute my camera records. *So*, I went long
range and recorded quite grainy imagery of it mucking about.

You can see it here .. [1] .. now, is that a bereaved lover/caged fish/clown
loach behaviour? It does it so much that I have to clean the outside of the
tank in that left hand spot fairly regularly. It's failed jump attempts
spill water on the outside.

Although interested in keeping fish for years, I only set up my first tank
at the start of the year so take what I say with a pinch of salt. My clown
loaches act very much the same , more so when I first got them but I have
since added a lot of plants and with plants come snails. This seems to keep
my pair very interested and appear a bit calmer. I aslo threw in a large
piece of bogwood and they love to sleep/play dead on this. Without a word of
a lie, I saw one 'fall-off' the bogwood once, it was so relaxed!

Mine do that around feeding time :-)

The biggest of mine sleeps in a log with a hole through which you can see
him sleeping on his side - crazy fish :-)
