Hey GUys.

Have a set of Juwel Miltilux lights that are not working, replacing
the entire unit is very expensive so wondered if i can just open the
existing unit. Have been reading and seen that its near impossible.
Has anyone done this? I dont know if i have to cut the plastic and
reseal with silicon or something.. any thoughts or advice is really
appreciated.

Thanks

My Jewel 180 once slipped and fell into the water and stopped working. I
carefully prised one end off the top, can't remember exactly, but certainly
enough to peer inside. I did cut plastic with a knife, but tried to keep it
to upper surface only. Poured the odd drop of water out, left in airing
cupboard, overnight, with gap propped open. It worked. Cleaned up my cuts,
sealed/glued with hot glue gun and that was over 3 years ago.

I have 2 juwel tanks and as yet have not had to touch light units,
but they do recommend you replace the end caps periodically when you
change lights , as over time the seal between the light tube and the
connector perishes thru heat and water attack , just have to make sure
that when you seal it back up its good and watertight unless a home perm
hair do is wanted lol
