I went to a shop which was using and selling larger than normal air
driven sponge filters. I was curious to learn more, but I've looked at
several online suppliers and none had them. The sponge itself was
cylindrical, with a diameter of very roughly 5-6" and a height of very
roughly 4". Does anyone know what brand these might have been?

Hmmmm sounds Interesting , not many places either online or retail stores
sell the air driven sponges in really large sizes, possibly they are
custom made, any idea who the manufacturer was ?

I have seen Steve Punchard and other discus breeders using these large foam
filters. I bought a couple direct from Punchard Discus, but all they are is
some foam and a piece of white ABS pipework through the middle where the
airstone is placed. There are many other variations that I have seen sold in
other (mostly discus) outlets that are made by Huey Hung
(http://www.atlantisaquatics.co.uk/acatalog/hueyhung.html )

These look identical to the ones I saw. Thanks.
