Hi

I'm about to set up my first tropical freshwater tank and need to get
an idea of available types of supplies and prices.

After googling for online suppliers I've noticed that those I have
found all have pretty photos of their tanks and shops but none
actually have a decent online catalogue or online shopping facilities.

Can anyone please suggest some good online retailers, for items such
as airlines, filters, etc.,
preferably those that stock more than the common systems such as
juwel, etc.

Thanks

What? You don't have a walmart next to you?

I get most all of my stuff from walmart or used at yard sales, flea
markets, ads in papers, etc. The rest I home brew ... however, you

For some reason, retailers have always thought aquarium equipment is
worth an arm-and-a-leg ... I don't.

Those guys are in PA - which I guess is Pennsylvania in the US?

This is a UK newsgroup and I don't think we have Walmarts either? Yard sale?
We've gone metric :-)

If you are anywhere near a branch of Maidenhead Aquatics I would recommend
them...

I am afraid there is no such thing anymore. When something goes on the
net, it is world wide and available to all world citizens. Well, some
countries, china for example, which grant their citizens ONLY very
limited use, are not good participants.

However, I did take it that the original post was inside the USA.

Yes, I've been to one of their shops fifteen minutes walk from me.
Lots of fish, quite impressive, but their equipment was over-priced
compared to other aquatics shops. Plus, I am finding the same problem,
most retailers only seem to stock the latest brands such as Juwel,
etc.

I also noticed that nearly all the stuff in imported from the
continent. Have UK manufacturers stopped supplying aquarium equipment
within the UK? It seems that way.
