Just a quick question, how do you all do your water changes by this I
mean gravity syphon or some sort of pump set up? if it's by gravity
how do you over come the precarious balancing act of bucket on edge of
tank routine.
Cheers.

Bucket on floor.
Gravel cleaner or siphon in tank.
You suck on pipe till water just reaches the end.
Finger on top of pipe and quickly pour into bucket.
Change about 25% every three or four weeks.
Top up by jugging out new water from bucket,
or pour carefully into tank.
You can even slowly top up via hosepipe.
Trickle water in and add dechlorinator.

The gravel filters with the wider tube at the bottom you can bounce up and
down to start the syphon going. A tube you can sort of coil one end under
the water, and keep turning it to fill the whole tube with water. Then
thumb over end and into bucket.

you don't want to drink that stuff - fishes make love in it. (actually they
do in the water in my coffee as well but at least thats boiled)

and i have an old towel that goes under the bucket - wooden floor and all
that.....

I meant putting the clean water back rather than getting the old water
out (does that make sence LOL) I was thinking of using the top of an
old Fluvel 1 with a tube attached to pump the clean water back in,
rather than pouring or syphoning it. Any comments?

I use a large swing bin full of the new water and pump it with an Eheim pump
I got for a tenner off ebay.
Works a treat
