I've tried a handful of different types of plant food in the last couple of
years, but the Nutrafin Plant Gro that I'm currently feeding would appear to
be producing the best results with regards to growth and general health of
my various plants.

Either that, or I've eventually got the hang of this aquarium lark after
half-a-dozen years! ;-)

The best tip I can give you with regards to keeping plants is to kit the
tank out with some form of CO2 system. I'm currently 5 months into using a
Nutrafin Natural Plant System
(http://www.hagen.com/uk/aquatic/basic/13-1.cfm ) which cost me all of £15 at
my LFS and all I can say is that the results since its introduction have
been simply outstanding. I tried a few other (cheap) CO2 systems before this
one but they were either too fiddly or simply didn't produce the goods.
Other than regular tank maintenance, out of the many 100's of pounds that
I've spent on my tank over the years, the 15 spent on this accessory would
get my vote for having the best effect on the standard of life I can provide
for my fish (which, IMHO, is what it's all about).

If you need me to provide any more info, please ask here in the newsgroup.

Regards,

Paul

Like you I use the Nutrafin Plant Gro and it works for me. Unlike you I
do not have CO2 systems on any of the tanks...the plants grow fine and
apart from the "green spot" stuff on the front I have little problems in
the "planted" tanks

Very little else on the market in the UK....I tried the Red Sea Plant
substrate stuff which worked for a while, I've tried Laterite....what
works best is the Nutrafin stuff....

So far I've resisted usinga C02 system.
I find Seachem's Flourish to be very good.

Thanks Peter,

Just off to the LFS so I'll have a dig around and see if they stock it...
