Hi everyone

This group seems to have become very quiet of late. I suppose as forums have
taken off, people don't bother so much with usenet. There is a bit more
security with the forums I suppose, let's just hope this one doesn't suffer
the same trolling fate as rec.aquaria.

I have seen a few names on here recently that I recognise, but the last post
was 8 days ago!!

Anyway, the purpose of my post was to let you all know that I have updated
my website. It is mainly about my current marine experience, but I still
have some of my discus stuff on there and a couple of other bits and bobs.
It would be good if you could drop by and visit :0)

Mark

The trouble with forums is that they all have different navigating
requirements and most are painfully slow. Just getting around forums
and trying to remember what was going on previously can take hours
while with usenet groups it is a continuous process. All I need to do
is press the space bar to read all the groups that I use. If they were
forums it would take forever. People like me don't use forums and most
forums users don't know that usenet exists.

Hi Mark, hi everyone, yes I was just thinking the same !

and another prob is that some ISPs nolonger carry usenet (eg. Orange
who took over from wannado who took freeserve dont serve usenet
anymore, BT the same, or perhaps it is only some of the BT packages ?)
Others that still do dont make a feature of doing so !
I fear that usenet may be becoming a lost art :(, ( or just populated
by geeks and ancient beings of yesteryear , hehee!)
My daughter and her friends had no idea what I was talking about when
I suggested they could ask their ( their particular non fishkeeping)
question on usenet

I agree with Steve's comments that forums and all their sub-fora take
an age to navigate and keep "up with". Not usually my cup of tea.

Hint for non-engineers, go to Google and enter "define: Hertz"
(without the bunny ears of course)
