I very much doubt the Dorad is responsible for the missing fish if it is
Platydoras costatus - they are too slow and lumbering to catch anything.
In the wild they live mostly on snails. If it is Orinocodoras eigenmanni
there are reports of them taking small fish but I've had one now for 20
years and he has never touched anything.

Most likely fish have just died and been eaten by their tank mates. A
Dorad will quite happily eat any dead fish they find.

Have you got a new home for him now?

If not, you could bring him in to Maidenhead Aquatics at Merepark
Newport. I'm sure I could find a tank for him at work - if not I could
probably fit him in one of my tanks at home.
