I have 3 steel filing cabinets (Bisley make) onto which I'd like to set up a
tank.
The combined footprint is 1410mm x 620mm
Height is 1010mm
I'm looking at a tank of 300 litres (A Juwel Rio 300)
Dimensions are 1210mm (W) x 510mm (D) x 620mm (H)
The cabinets are floor standing up against a wall and all three are bolted
together.
I would put on top of the cabinets a 3/4" or 1" thick piece of plywood to
distribute the weight.
Can anyone see a problem in this ?
Looking at the wooden stands that Juwel supply for the tanks - they don't
look near strong enough to support 300kg plus so can I assume the steel
cabinets will offer better support ?
Thanks for reading.

Hi Maria,
I would also put some1/4in polystyrene under the tank between it and the
plywood just to ensure there are no areas of stress on the tank base, i
think juwel usually have a little sticker saying this as well.
Hope this helps

Nope, from the manual:
"The JUWEL aquarium is built with a special bottom frame for security. The
aquarium should be placed directly onto the cabinet. DO NOT place any
additional support, eg polystyrene under the aquarium since this is not
necessary with our aquariums"

Bisley have a web site, ask them, anything else is a huge assumption.
Juwel has fully tested their stands to take that weight, the cabinets may
be designed to only support there own weight, and will fail, or just stop
opening under load.
