Tank size and new filter - help please Steve 07-24-2007

Hi,

My rather old tank is 48" * 18" * 12-15" (Sloping Front).

I can get the size in cubic inches = 48 * 18 * (12+15)/2 = 11664.

How do I convert this to Litres so I know what capacity external filter
to get?

My existing Hydor Prime 20 filter is getting older, slower and now makes
a lot of noise but doesn't move much water even after a clean and new media.

Any recommendations? I'm after something easier to open, easier to prime
and as quiet as possible.

Thanks, Steve

There are loads of converters on the web. 11664 cu. in = 191 litres. But you
probably don't fill it to the top!

Good point. Although I fill it to the top of the glass area which is 18"
of depth there is an inch or so of gravel. There is another 4-5" or so
above the glass area for lighting etc.

So, any recommendations for an external filter for a tank of approx 90L ?

I've got two tanks of roughly 200L - 48"x18"x18". I've got a Fluval 404
on one and a 304 on the other. I also run an internal filter on both
tanks (Fluval 4 plus).

this is a good one - will convert anything to anything else. 11664 is
5.25 UK Bushels or 38779 teaspoons :o)
