I've been using nutrafin water conditioner for water changes.
Previously I allowed water to stand for 24 hours before water changes,
but stopped this when I found out that it was possible for the water
company to change from chlorine to chloramines without notice. I've
continued using nutrafin solely because it's the brand of water
conditioner that I bought first, and I've continued buying the same
brand. I don't have much faith in the "herbal extracts" claims, and am
mainly interested in zapping chlorine. Is there any reason why I should
change to another brand/product? If so which one?

The one I use removes chlorine and chloramine (so it says), but I can't
recall the exact name (I'll post details when I get home), it claims to have
Aloe Vera in it though!
(Is it the same as what you're using?)

Quite probably. Nutrafin claims to have AloeVera. Personally I think
that the health claims for Aloe Vera for humans are b*ll*x and have no
expectation that health claims for Aloe Vera for fish will be on firmer
ground. I only use it for dechlorination.

It's a yellowish labelled bottle isn't it?

I'm not at all bothered about the Aloe Vera, i picked it because it removed
chloramine, which some of the others on the shelf didn't.

I use Tetra Aqua Safe and have had no problems with it, I have used
Nutrafin & Interpet in the past as well, the 2 main things to worry about
are the Chlorine & Chloramine, so long as the product you are using
removes them both then no worries.
If it only removes Chlorine, then i would suggest you either change to a
product that does both or get Interpet's Ammonia Remover , this also
removes Chloramine along with the Ammonia, another thing is it can all
depend on which products your LFS keeps in stock, as for Aloe Vera it is
supposed to protect the slime coat on the fish and to protect the gills
as well.
There is another option if you dont like to use Chemicals and that is RO
Water , but it is expensive and the RO effect does not last long so it
has to go into tank almost immediately, so cant be stored
