Please log in for more thread options I'm about to have my room painted,using both gloss and emulsion. How can I
protect my 4 tanks from the fumes (moving them is NOT an option!)

They should be fine. Cover them with old sheets to stop paint landing
on them and, if you want, turn off any air pumps that are bringing
external air into the tanks.

Keep the tanks covered and keep the room ventilated to get rid of the
fumes as quickly as possible. If the fumes aren't a problem for you
then they won't be a problem for the fish.

If you are bothered about the fumes, you could buy some more airline and
move your pump (assuming you are using one) to a room which is not being
painted.

If it's latex paint (which most people use on interior surfaces these
days), don't worry about it. It's water and alcohol based, so any vapors
produced have very little toxicity. If using oil/alkaloid-based paint,
on the other hand, you should provide plenty of ventilation.
