I have 2 pangasius catfish (yes I DID see the 9 foot long/646 lbs one!).
I'm moving them to a larger tank from a community tank. they don't like
being on their own so I was thinking of maybe separating my mollies from my
community tank and having just the mollies and pangasius. The community tank
has no salt added to it and is neutral ph and I know the mollies would
prefer salt and a higher ph. I know the pangasius don't mind ph up to around
7.5 but what about salt? Would they be ok with salt added?

Have left the cross posting for help only.

just googled and found this site.

It is advising high doses of salt as a treatment for problems.
So salt is tolerated at high doses.

Hope this helps.

My sailfin mollies tolerate hard water - with no salt.
The black mollies like salt with their hard water.
Green and gold mollies do better with the sailfins than they do with the
blacks.

You say the mollies are coming from a community tank with no salt added...
So do you really need the salt?

YMMV etc etc

Thanks for the input (when I googled pangasius and salt it just came up with
recipes to eat them!). I only have about 3 mollies in the community tank and
have never added more because the ph is low and somehow they just don't seem
as "happy" as I'd like. I really like sailfins but haven't added any to the
community tank for this reason. So I thought this would give me the ideal
opportunity.
