I think one of my red rainbows is in love with my pangasius!
I have three or four red rainbows in a tank with Bozeman , Australian and
blue rainbows. There's also 2 pangasius (mainly cos it's the only tank big
enough). For the last few weeks (at least 8) one of the red rainbows has
been almost inseparable from the same pangasius. I don't know the sex of
either but he (?) quivers against the pangasius head sometimes. (just
quivers, the
rainbow's not flicking or anything like that) Other times they are just
together the rainbow always at the pangasius head. It's not remotely
aggressive and they seem to enjoy it. Weird!

I had a male black molly that could not leave my, much larger,
rejectionist, female black angelfish. He may have been blind, but
color blind, NOT!

Dear Wierd, and I really hope your friends don't call you that, LOL, it
might be a possibility that parasites are the catalyst to the love affair
that you are witnessing. Yes, I know that takes away from the glory of the
of love but we all have have our reasons, don't we? It is not out of line
for your rainbow to "groom" so to speak, your pangasius. But I would not
expect any hybrids from this relationship, if you know what I mean.
Best of luck,
